In the early hours of 30th July 2026, Buxton officers were carrying out proactive patrols in the Harpur Hill area and spotted a Volkswagen Passat acting suspiciously, checks confirmed it was displaying false plates.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver made off, leading to a short pursuit before it was successfully boxed in. Despite the driver’s attempts to ram his way out, he was safely detained and arrested by officers from our local policing units and neighbourhood teams working together..
The driver was arrested of 11 offences, including:
• Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
• Driving without insurance
• Drug driving
• Displaying false registration plates
• Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs
• Possession with intent to supply Class B drugs
• Criminal damage
• Failing to stop for police
• Dangerous driving
• Going equipped to steal
• Resisting arrest
The male has since been remanded into custody and will remain there until his court appearance later this year. |
